A dead body of an adult man was recovered.there was blood staining in relation to the head and a tyre mark was present on the tarred road. no bullets or empty cartridges at the place where body was lying. body was in partial rigor mortis and still warm with early hypostasis. autopsy revealed circular penetrating injury of 9mm with abrasion collar and the underlying skull had circular deficiency with internal bevelling in the right occipital area.brain was damaged in a form of a tract at the end of the tract was circular deficiency of frontal lobe with outer bevelling and an irregular penetrating injury of 1.2cm*1cm in the forehead.
Questions:
1.the best method to calculate the time since death in this case?
2.most likely the person had been killed at?
YOu say body temp was "still warm" when assessed at the scene by coroner.
There are charts that will tell you approximate interval of death according to actual body temp at time of discovery, and taking into account the air temp over the previous day up until discovery.
In order to determine location of death, the blood pooling pattern and volume would have to have been assessed. There would have to be enough blood and appropriate pooling AT the scene of discovery to account for the body's actually expiring there. Otherwise they were moved from the actual firist crime scene shortly after shooting or perforation of head.
