Finding An Acne Blemish Treatment That Works Takes Time
Many people who have suffered from severe outbreaks of acne are well aware of the blemishes it can leave behind. Some blemishes may be more severe than others, but when a person is trying to show off great looking skin, even the tiniest blemish can seem huge. Locating a good acne blemish treatment can be very difficult considering the great number of products and promises on the market, however there are products that can help reduce the discoloration of acne blemishes.
For some, the purpose of an acne blemish treatment may be to cover the discolored area with make-up. In some circumstances, their choice in make-up can actually create a worse problem. Acne is caused by the body's natural oil clogging pores from the inside and allowing bacteria to grow underneath the skin. Most cosmetic products also contain oil to help moisturize the skin, but the oils in these products can add to the oily skin problem and cause worse acne. Of course, cosmetics do not really treat the blemish, it simply hides the problem.
There are also products that bleach the skin, helping to reduce the visibility of the darkened skin caused by acne and other problems, but they tend to dry out the skin and instead of having small patches of darker colored skin, there may be larger patches of lighter colored skin. Since everyone's skin is different, not everyone can use the same acne blemish treatment to bring back their normal skin coloring.
Blemish Prevention May Be Best Treatment
When acne does strike there remains a distinct possibility that a blemish is going to result. While the whitehead, blackhead or pimple, especially on the face is an unwanted guest, squeezing it or scraping it may be the cause of an even worse blemish. When a person suffers an outbreak of acne, blemish treatment should begin immediately. Placing an ice cube wrapped in a cloth on the spot for two or three minutes can slow the growth of bacteria under the skin. If a pimple does open, use a few drops of lemon oil on a cotton ball to help kill the bacteria in the follicle.
We have come a long way in the dermatology technology, we now know the cause of acne and its treatment. Still, even with all of the advances it is important to keep in mind that there is no product that will erase the blemish immediately. Once you choose a product use the entire amount according to the directions before jumping to a different one. It will take time for any acne blemish treatment to work so it has to be given the opportunity to do its job.
