Does the ethiopian food injera cause acne?

i know whole wheat is a major cause for acne. Please don't give me "food doesn't cause acne, its been proven" theory. Your diet has everything to do with acne. So does injera cause acne?

Yes and No;

No because injera is mainly wheat, barley and rice which all contain healthy vietamins.

Yes because some poorer people cannot afford to use 100% recipe and so add in alternative substances (usually greasy ones) which in theory could cause acne.

Does Junk Food Give You Acne?

Acne And Diet - Are You Aware That These Foods Can Cause Acne

Acne, the word itself is enough to give nightmares to any person, specially the teenagers. What if we tell you that the food you consume is also responsible for you problem to a certain extent. Some food items when eaten can cause and even aggravate this problem and if you try to avoid these foods, you can reduce acne and even get rid of them.

You have to keep in mind that to fight acne, you have to stay away from two main culprits. The first is foods with fats and the other is the foods with sugar and carbohydrates.

Start with controlling your intake of foods rich in oil and fats like mayonnaise, eggs and some salad dressings. They are very pleasing both to our taste buds and to our eyes but are very bad for health and cause acne. To get rid of acne you have to stay away from oily, greasy and fatty foods.

Sugar, baked goods, processed flour, sweets and hydrogenated or trans fats are the food items that again play a major role in causing and increasing acne. These are available in the foods like donuts, cookies, pastry, pies, etc. You must try not to eat cakes, breads, and chips regularly as they promote acne. Avoid the use of any kind of sodas. They are unhealthy and definitely increase acne.

Foods rich in carbohydrates are known to produces high glycemic load, which causes rise in blood sugar or the insulin levels in the blood. Excess oil build up under the skin and pore blockages can occur due to higher levels of insulin. So avoid sugared drinks, white bread and white potatoes etc that are a rich source of carbohydrates.

Limit the intake of milk products like ice cream, cheese etc. These products specially the ones made from cow's milk are rich in hormones. If the milk is from a pregnant cow then the hormone level will be even higher. These products when consumed get broken down into dihydrotestestosterone (DHT), which again turns into oil making cells. Elimination of milk and milk products will certainly improve the acne problem.

Limit the intake of nuts like pistachio, walnuts, and hazelnuts etc. These kinds of nuts and even peanuts and peanut butter also provoke acne.

The best way to deal with acne is an acne prevention diet. Though trying to control acne is very difficult but a little diet control and diet planning can help a lot. Here are few easy tips for you:

• The easiest and most effective way to cleanse your body is by drinking lots of water. Consume lots of water instead of sodas and try herbal teas and vegetable juices.

• Instead of sugar, you can take no calorie sweeteners.

• Avoid all types of fatty foods.

• Switch to more complex carbohydrates with fibre for example unrefined beans or cereals. These foods have low glycemic index and so they help in reducing acne.

• Reduce the intake of milk and milk products.

This kind of diet may not be able to cure your acne problem fully but it will reduce or limit the amount of foods that can aggravate your case of acne. It will make your skin healthier, and will reduce the amount of acne that appears on your skin.
