Considering an Acne Laser Treatment?


I'm sorry but I just can't handle it. I suffer every single day from acne and I'm extremely paranoid of people looking at me now. I'm partially dying inside.

I'm considering doing an acne laser treatment. Is this a good choice? I'm on the verge of killing myself if I don't see any immediate results. I've tried everything from mask to million of serums. I just don't see any improvement.

What are some symptoms or side effects of this treatment that I should be aware of?

Acne is a very emotionally challenging condition to have, and I don't think enough people realize this. I myself suffered through it for years with no relief.

Getting laser treatment is probably one of my biggest regrets. After trying at least twenty different topical treatments and several acne antibiotics, I was ready to try anything. First of all, it was extremely painful. Secondly (and more importantly), it left me with deep acne scars that still have not healed (I had the treatment done about four years ago). I absolutely do not recommend laser treatment.

With that said, I encourage you to talk to a dermatologist about trying isotretinoin (aka Accutane). After my horrific laser treatment, I stopped seeing my dermatologist altogether and let cystic acne attack my face, back and chest. After one particularly nasty cyst, I decided to see a new derm and she immediately put me on Claravis (another form of Accutane). I'm happy to say that I've been acne free for well over a year now and I've never felt better about myself. Plus, your insurance is more likely to cover Accutane than a laser treatment (which can cost hundreds of dollars out of pocket).

Believe me, I know how horrible acne is. It makes you want to hide your face from the world, which no one should ever have to feel. I can't recommend heading to a dermatologist to talk about isotretinoin enough.
