Neutrogena Advantage Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System OR Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit? I have used Pro Active and among others. I am 17 years old, but I don't have really bad acne. I get the whiteheads, blackheads, and about every 2 weeks a huge cystic zit that is underneath the skin. I haven't used an actual acne wash for like almost a year. I wash my face in the morning and at night. Please Help!
I use Clearasil Ultra - Deep Pore Treatment Scrub religiously, it works wonders even if it's not actually promoted as an 'acne' treatment. I've tried heaps of products for acne and this is by far the best... expensive though!

Acne Treatments - Have You Tried Gels?
Acne is one of the most commonly faced problems by teenagers as well as adults. If not treated it may result in emotional as well as physical scarring. Acne treatment depends on ones skin type, because everyone's skin is different. What works for one person may result in worsening the condition when used on another. It is very important to know if your skin is oily, normal or dry, or if it is a combination skin.
Gels can be used by people with normal or oily skin as it doesn't help moisturize the skin and if used by people with dry skin, it will further dry the skin. Some of these gels do contain glycerin and dimethicone which improve the moisturizing effect. Gels have been proven very effective in treating moderate to moderately severe acne conditions. They are said to act deep into the pores and ranks high in safety, efficacy and tolerance.
Some bio-skincare products use enzymes that dissolve dead skins and prevent blocking of pores, renewal activators that help cell growth hence help in the healing of acne lesions and antibacterial substances that keep a check on bacterial growth. These are used to treat mild to moderate acne. Gels are designed to unclog pores and reduce breakouts. Some also deal with pustules, whiteheads and blackheads. Daily use of gels, reduce open pores and hence reduce the chances dirt and oil from getting clogged in them, effectively reducing acne.
Gels that treat adult acne contain ingredients such as sulfur, salicylic acid, tea tree oil, benzoyl peroxide, Vitamin E, aloe vera, zinc etc. People with acne should avoid products that contain lanolin and oil as these will aggravate the acne. Gels with natural products such as aloe vera are more popular among people who prefer herbal products. Aloe Vera is used in many cosmetic products as it is a safe ingredient. Aloe gels provide a mask against pollution and dust and help the skin to protect. It also helps to reduce old scars, and known for its calming effects for people with irritated and inflamed skin.
Gels are of course not the only acne treatments, and it happens that some people don't tolerate them, or just don't like using them. For people with dry skin, if gels are not a solution for you, don't worry. There are many acne treatment kits made for dry skin that include lotions and moisturizing cream, that will give your complexion a brighter look, and a softer touch. This would also be interesting to check natural and herbal skin care supplements. These supplements are making a difference on other common acne treatments. They indeed rebalance your hormonal levels that are, inside your body, causing acne on the outside.
