Can I use different medications at the same time to treat my acne?

I bought this extremely expensive 3-step product system thing to prevent acne at a cosmetics store, not like Walmart or any drugstore. It doesnt really help at all, I mean I dont have terrible acne but i have so many big break outs which I hate because they just keep coming. All the products say using other topical acne medications may increase dryness and irritation blah blah blah. But what can I do? It doesnt work at all. I really want to try skiniD from Neutrogena because you can make the perfect solution for your skin. I am so stressed about this because i sometimes get whiteheads and cysts (extremely painful and swollen pimples deep beneath the skin that sometimes scar and dont go away for weeks). They each have special treatments for different pimples so is it ok to use them all or will my skin just breakout again and again??

I really hope you understand this really detailed and a little confusing question, sorry if you dont. I just neeed some answers!! Thanks so much :)

all topical acne products will dry skin, since thats what it does to the acne. anyway, i think its ok to use products together as long as it doesn't irritate your skin to much, also moisturize with a light facial cream to prevent dryness and clogging.

have you tried washing your face with just a mild cleanser, then apply Benzoyl Peroxide all over your face? that worked for me a while, but i have really sensitive skin so i couldn't really take the Benzoyl. Also if you do use Benzoyl Peroxide use a moisturizer after because it does cause drying.

if none of that works, you should go see a dermatologist, i go and take antibiotics it helped with getting rid of my Cyst like acne, but i still break out (mostly during that time of month). They have different medications like differn-gel or accutane.

also one more thing, instead of paying so much for products, start reading the ingredients on the back of the box, see what the active ingredient is and compare it to other products that use the same stuff. most acne cleansers have salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

Acne - Simple Steps to Beating Acne

When you look at the mirror before going out on a date what do you feel when you see an ugly red spot on your face?

When you are going for an important job interview, what do you feel when you feel something wrong on your face and your fingers reach up and find this very prominent and sore pimple that was not there the night before?

The chances are you feel at that moment that life sucks. Your self esteem begins to sink faster than the Titanic. You think: "Why me? Why now?"

Whatever you do, don't pick that pustule. Don't zap that zit. If you do that then you are likely to end up with more infection and a lot more ugly spots and red patches in a few days which will make you feel even worse.

Acne: spots, pimples, blackheads and all, affects 80% of us, very commonly in out teenage years but also for some adults for years and even decades afterwards.

Acne is caused by hormonal changes, which is why so many teenagers suffer so much from this physically unpleasant and psychologically damaging infection. The sebaceous glands, not far below the surface of the skin, naturally produce sebum, an oil which moisturises the skin. Sometimes the hormonal activity caused sebaceous glands to work overtime and produce excess sebum which can then clog up the pores, the tiny holes in the skin. In these unnaturally confined spaces nasty bacteria can start to multiply and thrive. In a few days the infection can erupt into those unpleasant pimples so many of us are familiar with.

We all undergo hormonal changes, especially in the teenage years.

But what we do to ourselves can trigger hormonal changes which in turn may result in an outbreak of acne.

Stress Excessive stress or tension can have damaging psychological and physical consequences. People going through marital collapse or facing redundancy from work quite often experience outbreaks of acne. If you face excessive stress which you think may contribute to your acne, take up something like meditation, yoga or Tai Chi. If your stress is more serious seek medical advice. Treat the stress and that will help stop the acne.

Treat the cause. Not just the symptoms.

Poor diet Studies show that acne can be cured by cutting out such harmful products such as vegetable oil, processed sugar, the most addictive substance on the planet, caffeine or alcohol can cure acne. If you are serious about getting rid of your acne you really should look at cutting out these harmful substances.

Eating lots of vegetables, fresh or frozen, will give you tons of the essential nutrients that will help stabilise hormonal changes and help get rid of acne.

Dehydration Drinking lots of water, at least 10 glasses a day, will prevent the dehydration which opens the way for the sebaceous glands to go into overdrive. Drinking lots of water is the number one method of fighting acne.

Excessive washing Responding to an outbreak of acne by endless washing will make the acne worse. Washing twice a day is fine. Washing more than that is likely to provoke the sebaceous glands to compensate by producing even more sebum, which will in turn block the pores and cause acne.

Acne causes embarrassment and that increases stress. That stress will hinder any attempts to cure your acne. Start following these simple ideas and you will give yourself a chance fight your acne.
