What is the best acne treatment?
I don't have a lot of acne, but i occasionaly break out big bumps on my forhead and chin.
I have tries clean and clear, but that made my skin really dry.
But i remeber atleast a year ago (I forgot what product I used) but my skin was always reallt oily, and know its the exact opposite and is dry.
Sooo, where im trying to get is...what is the best acne treatment product(s) you have used that was very improving?

I've learned from more than 3 years trial and error that what's good for others is certainly not always your best option. I used Clinique's for a long time and while it kept my acne under control, it was too stubborn to go. it was only when i went to my gp and demanded to see a dermatologist that i got anywhere. i waited for ages, but it was worth it, within 3 month i was clear. follow the obvious rules of skin care and get yourself to see a derm! if you have to pay, just think of all the money you'll save on products! however if you do chose to continue on the products route, only trial and error will see you through! i do recommend clinique though! :] xxx

How To Determine What Acne Treatment Product Works Best
Acne is a really annoying problem to have, and anyone who has had much experience with it can relate to the constant search to find what acne treatment product works best. The unfortunate news is most of the products available are really very similar, so it is difficult to know if there is anything out there that is different.
Most over the counter treatments normally incorporate one of two chemicals, benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
Benzoyl Peroxide works by destroying the bacteria that causes acne. The medication dries out the skin. Sometimes there is also mild peeling as well. Many think this is an effective treatment unless dealing with very severe acne.
Salicylic Acid is helpful in that it works by causing the follicles to clear themselves of dead cells that clog the pores.
Both of the substances come in different concentrations. It is advisable to start with a lower concentration and move up as needed. Most people respond to one or the other, but it's impossible to know which one might work for you.
If products containing these chemicals do not prevent acne flare-ups, it may be necessary to use a prescription product. These vary greatly, but the first one most doctors try is a topical antibiotic, such as Tetracycline, to kill the bacteria. There is also an oral version that is prescribed as well. Both are effective, but the bacteria can become resistant to the antibiotic making it lose its effectiveness.
Retinol, which is medication derived from vitamin A, is also used fairly commonly. It causes the skin to peel, thus, ridding it of the dead or dying cells that cause the problem.
Isotretinoin is a very strong drug that initially went by the name Accutane. The treatment is very effective, but there usually are unpleasant side effects and it should be heavily supervised by a physician.
There are peels and other techniques, but the best way to find the best acne treatment product is to experiment first with some over the counter items.
