Does anti-acne foundation REALLY work?
I get bad break-outs, and like to hide them. My skin is naturally very pale, so even the lightest cover-up shade looks weird, so in the end I always have to cover my entire face.
My mom thinks that, until I leave home, she chooses all my make-up for me (the so-called "voice of experience"), so one day I gathered up the courage to ask if I could wear foundation instead.
Mom said that foundation just makes acne worse. So I took the trouble to find over a dozen different advertisements in magazines, but NOW she says they're just a marketing ploy and don't really work.
Does anyone use brands that work? Can anyone give me a link to some sort of proof I can show her?

If you use the right foundation for your skintype it will not make it worse. You should look for an oil-free foundation that says it is non-comodegenic (does not block pores) and cleanse properly after wearing it. Using the right skincare products is more important than making to make your skin healthier so make sure to do that. A good foundation to try would be Clinique Anti-Blemish, I use it and find it nice. It actually contains salicylic acid (used in a lot of acne skincare) and is designed to reduce blemishes. Explain to your mom that you want to have fun with makeup and learn to use it for yourself. I don't like the look of very heavy makeup on girls but you should do whatever makes you feel more confident. At least, ask her can you try it and see how it goes. Good luck!

It probably does not take a genius to figure out that acne is among the commonest skin ailments in the world.
