Acne help please benzoyl peroxide ?
I am a 16 year old boy. I have had acne for about 2 years. I have used a lot of clean and clear products. Like the foam power scrub. With Salicylic Acid 0.5%. I had acne just on my forehead and now its mostly on my chin now and not much on my forehead. I have about 7 pimples and red marks on my chin now. My main question is would erythromycin benzoyl peroxide topical gel work for me? How long till it works and how do i use it?
more than likely yes and itll take about a week
and when you 1st start using it your pimples will probably b more noticable becuz they are cumming to the surface of ur skin but when ur acne goes away remember to keep using erythromycin benzoyl peroxide products so that it doesnt cum back really easily!!!!

Things You Should Know Before Using Benzoyl Peroxide For Acne
Benzoyl Peroxide For Acne
One of the most effective treatments for acne is benzoyl peroxide. It is available over the counter and you will probably have heard of the most common brand names such as Clearasil, Oxy and Benoxyl.
How Does It Work?
This chemical works in two different ways.
First of all, it is an antiseptic and therefore reduces the bacteria on the skin and around the pores. The more bacteria that are present then the easier it is for acne to take hold. Benzoyl peroxide does this via a chemical reaction that releases oxygen. This works because the contributing bacteria can only survive in an environment that is lacking in oxygen.
Secondly, it acts to make the layers of your skin shed more quickly. This itself will clean out your pores. Clogged pores are well known as a major cause of acne.
Dosage
Benzoyl peroxide normally comes as a cream or gel. It is available in a number of concentrations. Generally speaking, it is best to use the lowest effective concentration.
The most common concentration is 2.5 which means that 2.5 per cent of the product is benzoyl peroxide. You can also get it in concentrations of 5 and 10 per cent. However, studies have shown that 2.5 is just as effective for most people.
Side Effects
This treatment can cause a number of common side effects, especially for those with sensitive skin or other skin conditions such as eczema.
Some of these include burning, itching, skin rashes, discolouration and blistering. Your skin may dry out too so it is recommended that you supplement the treatment with moisturisers.
In many cases, the side effects will diminish within a couple of weeks as your skin gets used to the treatment.
Drawbacks
The problem with benzoyl peroxide is that if you rely on this treatment method then you must usually commit yourself to regular application of it. This is because if you stop using it then the acne causing bacteria will come back and you will suffer from breakouts once more.
Some acne sufferers will use this product only during their teenage years and then find that they no longer need it on reaching adulthood. Even so, you can still expect to pay several hundred dollars per year to maintain your look.
Finally, it is also theorised that long term use may possibly lead to or contribute to skin cancer. However, no evidence of this has yet been found.
