Benzoyl Peroxide - a well working acne eliminator
Benzoyl Peroxide is the major ingredient of many over-the-counter products and is proven to be highly efficient for people who suffer from modest, non-inflammatory acne. Using benzoyl peroxide is said to be secure for people of all ages, including children. It can be used in combination with further acne solutions, such as creams, masks, cleansers, antibiotics etc.
Benzoyl Peroxide - HOW IT WORKS
Benzoyl peroxide works by destroying P acnes, the bacteria that causes the disease acne. It acts as an antiseptic and oxidizing agent, reducing the number of comedones, or blocked pores. It may be 2-3 weeks before you begin to see improvements.
Keep in mind: Yes, Benzoyl Peroxide eliminates the acne causing bacteria, but it does not change the natural resistance of your body to bacteria in general. So even when you see your skin condition improving, you should not discontinue using your benzoyl peroxide acne product. Why? Benzoyl peroxide acne treatments eliminate the P. acnes bacteria, but they do not influence the sebum production of your skin pores or the measure of dead skin cells you shed. So whenever you stop using Benzoyl Peroxide your acne breakouts will eventually come back.
Where can you buy Benzoyl Peroxide acne remedies?
Benzoyl peroxide is available in a wide range of gels, creams, lotions and cleansers in non-prescription concentrations of 2.5%, 5% and 10%. It is also available in presciption medications such as BenzaClin®, Benzamycin®, and Duac™. Benzoyl Peroxide - COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
The most usual and common side effect is dryness of the skin. If the skin is visibly scaly, apply a light oil-free moisturizer.
If you experience an ongoing dryness and irritation of your skin, give your skin a pause from benzoyl peroxide and switch to a lower concentration product.

Contact dermatitis in form of symptoms like red and itchy skin can be caused by irritation or an allergy. If you get dermatitis discontinue using the benzoyl peroxide acne product asap and buy a hydrocortisone cream from your local pharmacy to treat your skin.
Allergy: 1-2% of the population experiences a mild allergic reaction to benzoyl peroxide. This is usually characterized by itching and inflammation.
Bleaching of clothing: Benzoyl peroxide can decolorize clothing and linens; So it is essential to make sure that your skin is completely dry before you dress or go to sleep.
