Blue Light Therapy Acne Treatment
Ramadan: Is it haram to get this....?
I have several acne scars on my face. And one side of my face is all read because of this. I am considering getting a treatment called "dermabrasion" which does scar removal along with chemical peels and blue light therapy. What it does it remove a layer of skin and makes skin smooth and removes the scars.
Would this be considered haram because it's for cosmetic purposes? I really don't want to live with scars all my life and it damages my self esteem. Thank you
@Sara: Thanks a lot for rubbing salt in my wounds and making my self esteen worse. Why bother answering if you're not going to help? seriously...
@Reem: Thank you. I did go to a dermatologist and she told me that I have 2 options. I can either take Accutane for 4-5 months or I can get blue light therapy. I don't know which one to use. Accutane is a very strong anti- biotic but I have heard that after you use it, you don't get any acne for your whole life.
I dont see why it should be haram. I have had microdermabrasion done. I'm thinking this is the same thing its just called microdermabrasion in UK. And previous to that I took Roaccutane(Accutane) again called slightly different name. That was a great great success. I think Roaccutane saved my face. The acne hasnt come back either.
What is the BEST acne treatment? Cost is no matter...?
I'm 23 years old and have moderate acne (few pimples, but they are big) and I have tried Proactive and other over the counter topical medications, but my skin is NEVER perfectly clear, (not even close actually). I am wondering the best treatment is if cost doesn't matter. Is the blue light therapy good? Facials? Pills? Diet?
Please don't tell me to see a dermatologist because I already know I probably should but I want advice first.
I really want smooth skin more than anything! Please help!
And just to clarify (since the user "Brian" is obviously a Yahoo Answers conspiracy theorist) I am NOT a scammer. I just really want to know what works based on others experiences! And my answers and questions are private because most of my questions are embarrassing and people would read them and say rude things to me when they answered my other questions. Sorry...
And now I've made my q&a public just to prove this jerk wrong!
Just to let you know we all realize Brian is not to be believed. Try not to let it bother you. I would set my Q&A back to private, who cares what he thinks.
Read some of his answers. He is the one trying to scam people. He says he belongs to an online money making club and that you have to pay using a credit card or paypal.
Maybe you should try a good Retinoid product, prescription strength. Something like Tazorac or Retin-A Micro. Not all insurance covers them. It usually cost $100.00 a tube, (cheaper in Canada) with my insurance I was able to get it for $40.00. It lasts for a very long time. There is no need to spend lot's of money on makeup, or skin cleanser. Use oil free makeup and a fragrance free cleanser and moisturizer. Something like fragrance free Liquid Neutrogena facial cleansing formula, and Olay complete moisture lotion w/ spf for sensitive skin.
I'm not very fond of dermatologist, but it wouldnt hurt to check one out when your ready. I would recommend going to a Laser skin care center if cost is not an issue. They seem to have all the latest and greatest Lasers. Again check out a few places, they should have free consultations and pick the place you feel most comfortable with. It's great to compare what different doctors say, then do a little reaserch on the internet.
I had a friend years ago who had severe acne and she took pills. It was amazing how perfect her skin ended up being. I don't know if thats something a doctor would suggest for moderate acne.
Good luck!
