Cleanse Lot
When doing a liquid fasting cleanse, why is one not suppose to engage in "rigorous exercise?"?
I am considering doing a juice fast for 3-5 days for detox purposes. A lot of the liquid cleanses that I have researched suggest not to workout during the fasting period...why? Is there any danger/health risks in working out while participating in a juice fast?
I exercise during my fasting period but I don't fast for 3-5 days. I fast for only 20 hours. I try to exercise 2 hours before my fast is over then eat a protein meal one hour following the exercise period. This enhances the growth hormone. But I don't know about going for 3-5 days. Fasting can be healthy but in extremes it can be dangerous. I don't see anything dangerous about your fast except for vigorous exercise. I had a link that stated that exercise should be low impact and non-stressful like a stroll through the mall. Back in the day, when our ancestors were hunters and gatherers, they had no refrigeration, no grocery stores or restarants, the actually went about 3 days or so without eating. They hunted during the fasting period which is vigorous exercise to the extreme, when you think of it.They had exemplary health. But in your case this is something new. You are not accustomed to fasting for such a long period of time, let alone exercise during the fasting period. In my honest opinion, don't do the vigorous exercise yet. Become accustomed to the fasting period. Exercise slowly, by going for 20 minute strolls. Then build up to the 3-5 day fasting/exercise.
