What is a great moisturizer/cleanser and toner for combination skin?


I have combination skin. I keep hearing from make up counter employees the best to use is one that is both alcohol and oil free.

Alcohol dries the skin out too much to the point where it then overcompensates by producing more oil. Most of what I've read agrees that alcohol free is the way to go.

As far as the oil free thing is concerned, I hear mixed things. If you google "mineral oil", you will see both sides: that it's either good for your skin and doesn't clog pores to people saying it will definitely clog them.
I personally use coconut oil and it doesn't clog. You can get a big jar for only a few bucks at a vitamin or natural food store. It moisturizes AND reduces acne at the same time. I apply it at night and the next morning my acne is noticably reduced - better than anything I've used. And I even had acne scars for years that dramatically faded after using it for a couple nights. Just use it when you're not going to be around anyone. It's messy and shiny looking.
I think as far as using oil free vs. oil-based moisturizes, it probably just depends on what oil you use and what type of skin you have.

Advice on cleanser and moisturizer for 30 year old skin?


I am in my earky 30's (31 to be exact) and am wondering about ideal cleanser and moisturizer for my skin. I have what could be described as "problem" skin (ie oily, occasional breakouts), so I would need something fairly gentle (some sort of shine-controling properties would be nice, too!). Also, I am starting to think about wrinkles, and would like products that would help keep my skin "young" looking. I know that I probably shouldn't be using the same "stuff" that I used as a kid (harsh toners or Noxema-type cleansers), but honestly this is not my department, so I'm looking for folks who can help me out.
