Clinique Concealer Acne Best Foundation and concealer for Sensitive, Acne-Prone Skin?
I'm going to Sephora sometime this week and I really want to get a good foundation and concealer.
I'm only 14 so I'm looking for something that looks natural. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin. I'm looking for something like a tinted moisturizer or liquid foundation because powder foundation usually makes me look chalky. Anyone have any suggestions?
I've been looking at the Stila Tinted Moisturizer, Clinique, and Too Faced Magic Wand for foundations. Are those any good?
-Thanks!
Honestly for sensitive acne prone skin, the best makeup is no makeup but if you love it as much as I do, I get that going with out can be really tough. I used the Too Faced Magic Wand and I really did not like it. It felt so heavy and greasy ugh! About halfway through maybe not even I threw the thing out. I started using a brand called Prescriptives. Not sure if you can get it at Sephora but I know you can get it at Macy's they have their own little counter thing. Their make up gives really good coverage and for me it feels pretty light weight. I use their foundation concealer and powder. I know you said powder makes you look chalky but after putting on any kind of liquid foundation, the skin tends to look shiny so light powder after is definitely the way to go. The great thing about prescriptives is that it's oil free so your skin is less likely to break out and if they don't have you shade they can custom blend for you. It is a little pricey but I think it's worth it. Before buying you can ask someone at the counter to apply it for you and you can see if you like the feel of it and everything else. I really hope this helps you.
Survey of Helpful Bargain Skin Care Products (Less Than $10)
Cheap skin care products doesn't always mean "bad" or "low quality." Remember, the beauty industry spends billions of dollars every year on marketing, so when you buy that $50 cream, you're paying for a massive advertising campaign. The truth is, you can locate great products at Target, Wal-Mart or Kohl's and all for less than $10.
Apricot Scrub by St. Ives
Price: $4 at Drugstores
This apricot scrub has been a drugstore shelf staple for decades, and there's a reason - it works, it's affordable and people like using it. As a scrub, you should only be applying it a few times a week maximum - the idea is to remove dead skin cells and freshen up your skin, not scrub it off. So, use this one sparingly.
Unblemished Treatment Concealer by Beauty Benefits
Price: $6 at Wal-Mart Locations
If you're prone to the occasional breakout or the one problem pimple that shows up the day before a big event, this is the product for you. One side covers up pimples and the other side treats them with salicylic acid, drying that pimple out in time for an important date or meeting.
If you find the cover-up end of this product too powdery or hard to blend, try dabbing the pencil end in a bit of water or moisturizer before you apply it. It will go on smoother.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Scrub
Cost: $7 at Target and Most Drugstores
Like the Beauty Benefits concealer pencil, this product also contains salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid that is used to treat acne and other skin problems. Basically, it prevents pores from clogging, expediates the removal of skin cells and makes room for fresh skin growth.
Ideally, you want to be using a facial scrub, particularly one with salicylic acid, no more than twice a week. Any more, and you run the risk of irritating your skin.
Witch Hazel
Cost: $3 to $5 at Most Drugstores
Pick up a toner like Clinique's popular toner and you'll quickly see that the real ingredients are water and witch hazel. For much less, you can make a witch hazel toner that will deflake your skin, restore a proper pH balance and complete your cleansing cycle.
Because witch hazel is an astringent, remember to always moisturize afterwards. You may also want to dilute your witch hazel with two to three parts water, especially if you have dry or flaking skin.
Coconut Body Butter by Target
Price: $7.99 at Target
This creamy, whipped moisturizer is great for all-over, full body skin care. It will literally melt into your skin, so you'll smell great, but won't feel greasy. The best part? It's made from natural products like coconut, which has been proven to reduce the appearance and development of stretch marks.
Remember, cheap skin care products that are still good quality can be found. Don't be afraid to sample products out in the store, ask your friends for their favorite budget finds and to take chances on new, low-priced options. You may be delightfully surprised at the positive results.
