I have a micro dermal on my hand, how do I make it better?
it's red all the time. does this mean that it's pulled out too far? is it ever going to get better?
i got it pierced in february.
Unfortunately, microdermal anchors don't generally fair too well in high traffic areas. Your hands are very high traffic. They're also hot spots for all kinds of germs and nasty things. I'm sorry to tell you that your microdermal is probably never going to heal properly, it may even reject.
You can keep trying of course, keep doing the sea salt soaks, keep massaging the jewelry down. But be prepared in the event that you have to remove it.

Yes they should be red and you want to view with the red filter. Links will not be so useful unless you know the filter sets of your microscope and the type of light source (Argon, Neon, UV laser). I would suggest going to the Clontech website since they made dsRED express and viewing the product info on their fluorescent proteins (Living Colors Reef Fluorescent Proteins).
It is essentially dsRED so no worries if your scope can do that, just make sure to check the green filter to weed out high level autofluoresence (should be very dim to no green on dsRED+ cells). You will want to know this since you might need to do immunos or something with green fluorochromes.
