Pro Activ Toner vs. Witch Hazel Extract?
My ProActiv revitalizing toner ran out a LONG TIME ago.
I have about 1/6 of my ProActiv renewing cleanser left.
For the past 4 months, I've been using witch hazel extract + water as my toner, since ProActiv Toner wasn't available to me.
I find that it does not make my face as red. But does it work just as good? Or should I buy the real deal? (ProActiv Toner)
Before this month, my face never really cleared out.
Now my face is beginning to clear. But I have a feeling it's only because I use more of the cleanser, and less of the toner/lotion.
Should I go and just buy the cleanser, or get the 3step system again?
PS: ProActiv toner contains Witch hazel, and a few other ingredients.
It may work just as well. It looks like you've found a cheap replacement for proactiv. I know make up artists who use witch hazel to clean their clients faces before applying make up, so it must be ok. How is your acne? Is it better or worse when using the witch hazel instead of the toner? That would be my test. If it works better, just keep using that.

How does Witch hazel kill bacteria ?
I have a containor of Tope Care Distilled Extract of Witch hazel(86%) alcohol 14% by volume and i want to kno how it kills bacteria
The alcohol can disrupt the bacterial cell membrane and can lyse the cell ultimately killing it. This is why in labs and hospitals, even when you get a cut, they use alcohol to sterilize.
