Human Chin Acne
Human Chin Acne
have about gone thru all brands of kitty food and still 3 yr. old kitty is sick?

Kitty is 3 years old. Continues to suffer from feline chin acne, yeast infection, ear problems and finally diarrhea, sometimes bloody. She will seem fine on one brand (have done dry and wet and combination), for a few weeks to a few months and then it starts all over again. About at my wit's end. Could I try some human grade tuna fish? She is inside only and was a feral kitty that I took in 2 years ago.
Yes, we are at the vet's office every two to three months with the same problem. They can find no cause. They treat the nausea and the diarrhea, we change food and she does well for two or three months. Have just started her on "limited ingredient" cat food. But I can tell her ears still bother her and today she's vomiting. We're in U.S. (Kentucky).
Eats dry food from ceramic bowl and canned food from glass bowl, no plastic because of the feline chin acne.

There are two possible causes for these issues with your cat.

First of all, she is suffering a problem related to a natural food intake suddenly turned artificial.By that I mean she was feral (like me) and lived off house scraps, rats, mice, and other small animals but the basis of her diet was built up around natural products without artificial additives, preservatives and colourings. If you have had this problem on and off for two years, then it would explain why. The sudden shock on a one year old digestive system would cause the problems listed as the body is not used to such rich food. All the other problems listed, like chin acne, ear problems and yeast infections, are secondary problems caused by the digestive issues. The immunity is low and so the secondary infections take a hold.

You could try her on a natural diet. My suggestion would be to find a simple dry food and use this as a mixer for frozen chicken, beef, lamb and fish which you can buy at your local pet store. Tinned fish made for human consumption has additives in it, even if it says on the tin that it doesn't. You could also try getting her a tray of house cat grass which is seed which when watered, grows and replaces itself as the cat eats it.

The second possibility is, wait for it! Meat allergy! One in about a million cats and dogs are genetically vegetarian and can not digest meat in their diet. Its not common but it does happen and its usually caused when an animal is born through bad breeding, for example when a feral tom cat suddenly takes an unhealthy interest in his mother because they live in a close knit community in a town area and other cats are difficult to come by.

In the case of meat allergy, the cat suffers digestive issues which then lead to secondary issues such as the ones you listed. They loose weight, condition and the more you feed the more it affects them. Changing the brand from time to time will make matters worse as the body has to get used to each brand all over again.

You can get specialist vegetarian dry foods for cats and dogs, though depending on where you are, you may need to look online and find a stockist who can supply you for the rest of the cats life.

To check for genetic vegetarianism, have your vet take a blood sample and tell them to send it off for analysis. Make sure the specifically check for the vegetarianism or they will not be able to help you, also don't let your vet shrug this off as an unlikely possibility as it does occur and can be treated once diagnosed.

Acne Skin Care Control

Acne is a common skin condition. It occurs when oil and dead skin cells clog the skin's pores. Mostly it affects that areas where the largest oil glands founds in the human body, including the nose, forehead, cheeks, chin, back, and trunk. It is also known as pimple. Mostly it occurs on women as well as infant body. It is most common in adolescents and it generally disappears by age 30.

The appearance of pimples sometimes occurs during the surge of hormones during the puberty. In some youngsters they continue to bother them into their young adulthood or even till their late forties and in others they disappear after a few years. There are no parameters that are available that will indicate when these lesions are likely to disappear.

Causes

By the research it is found that 80 percent of all teenagers develop acne, but is also occurs at the age of 25 and 30. Acne occurs when the hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. During puberty, there are numbers of hormonal changes in the body and due to this an increased production of sex hormones like estrogen, and androgens. Androgens stimulate the production of oil in the sebaceous glands, which tends to block the skin pores thus the harmless skin bacteria present on the skin gets entrapped in the deeper layers of the skin.

Stresses can also a big cause of acne. Intense stress that requires medical assistance is sometimes treated with medications which may cause acne as a side effect. If you think you may have acne in account to a medication prescribed for either stress or depression, then you should talk with doctors.

Symptoms

When the follicle begins to bulge and show up as a small whitish bump mostly under the skin, it is called a whitehead. If the comedo opens up, the top surface of the plug darkens, and it is referred to as a blackhead. When acne is present, sebum which normally drains to the surface of the skin gets blocked and bacteria begins to grow.

Treatment

Treatment for acne depends on severity. Mild cases may be eased by washing the face with a gental toilet soap. You can already use drying agents such as benzoyl peroxide. However, over washing your face could lead to excess drying and the production of more pore-clogging oil, which in turn could cause more acne.

If you feel that your acne is not possible to be end then you should use prescription medicine and topical creams that can clear up mild to very severe acne. Severe acne may need oral treatment with antibiotics such as tetracycline or hormone therapy. However, over washing your face could lead to excess drying and the production of more pore-clogging oil, which in turn could cause more acne. If you have a case of acne that requires more treatment than face washing alone, there are many prescription medications and topical creams that can clear up mild to very severe acne.
