Infected Acne Cyst
I need help about this cyst pleease.?
I had a cyst on the side of my face (like infront of my ear) a few years ago and I got it drained and it was cool.
The next year it came back in the same area and once again it was drained and it seemed fine.
Nooow it's back again and Im trying to get it removed If I can, but my mom is afraid that it's not safe because it near my ear,My dermatologist told me it was probably due to my mild acne and my oily skin so yes I wash my face twice a day to keep the extra oil out my skin. I also know getting it drained and removing it is probably the best thing to do at the moment but being that I can't until she considers it what should I do to get it down a bit?
I can feel it a little bit at times and it is sore, I try and keep that area clean by cleaning around it with astringent but it's still sore. Im hoping it's not infected lol help pleaseee.
And I'm not sure what the name of it is the dermatologist only tells me it's acne related.
I guess it's an acne cyst
Sebaceous cysts may occasionally become infected and form into painful abscesses. It is important when sebaceous cysts are surgically removed that the entire sac is excised to help prevent a recurrence. However, it's important to note that sebaceous cyst recurrence in not unusual.
Remember to consult your health care provider anytime you notice any type of growth, bump, or lump on your body. Although sebaceous cysts are not dangerous, your doctor should examine you to ensure that skin cancer is not present.
Small inflamed cysts can often be treated by injection of steroid medications or with antibiotics.

Highly Painful And Infected Acne – Treatments
In the last article we learned about Isotretinoin. Let us find out more about what other treatment options are available for cysts and nodules.
Oral Antibiotics-
Antibiotics are used topically as well as orally. For severe acne oral antibiotics are used as they produce quicker results. Broad-spectrum antibiotics kill the bacteria P.acnes. With reduction in the population of this bacterium, infection and inflammation reduces. Tetracycline, erythromycin and doxycycline are commonly used antibiotics. Excessive use of antibiotics can cause resistance to the antibiotic and gastro intestinal problems.
Corticosteroids -
In this treatment, a mild steroid solution is injected in the cyst. The steroid dries the acne within a few days. This treatment may prevent scarring as it reduces the infection quickly.
Surgical procedure-
The lesion is surgically cut and drained. This procedure needs skill and patients should not try this themselves. Popping a cyst can lead to more infection. After draining the cuyst local application of antibiotics heals the lesion.
Oral Contraceptives-
In women the hormonal activity can be corrected with oral contraceptives. Hormones are responsible for overactive sebaceous glands. These glands produce more sebum that causes acne. Oral Contraceptives should be taken only under medical supervision.
Spironolactone-
Spironolactone is a steroid. It is prescribed along with oral contraceptives to women. Spironolactone controls the production of Androgens- a group of hormones. Androgens are responsible for overactive sebaceous glands. By controlling androgens, the sebum production is reduced and acne is treated.
