Long Term Antibiotics Acne
Antibiotics for acne?
My doctor has prescribed antibiotics for my acne. Do they work? Do you have to take them for a long time? I'm supposed to take them for two months for now to see how they'll work and I asked my doctor what if they do work but the acne comes back afterwards, do i have to keep taking them? And he said yea, i might have to take them longer. The thing is i don't want o become dependent on it, i mean i don't want to have to keep taking them forever because the acne'll come back if i stop. Or do they work for good? I don't mind taking them for a few months, just not a long term thing. Did anyone take antibiotics for their cne and did they work? How long did you take them for and did the acne completely stop or at least decreased a lot after taking them? Oh, i'm supposed to be taking 2 a day for 2 months.
yup...antibiotics are the treatment of choice for acne. erythromycin or doxycycline are the drugs frequently prescribed. these are quite effective for a complete cure or atleast a remission of acne. though they might have to be prescribed for longer durations. it depends on the response after therapy for two months. the response differs from person to person. i used it earlier for around 2 months and my acne has been cured completely. if you have a problem with pills you could ask your doc to prescribe the erythromycin cream or lotion available in the market for topical application. antibiotics alone may not do the trick. benzoyl peroxide gel application or retinoids in case of severe acne are co-prescribed for a better visible result in just 2 months. i would advise you to consult with your doc before using them though coz he has seen your acne and he knows better. at the most these drugs may be prescribed for 6 months...not more than that. so dont worry and use them consistently...im sure your acne will be cured sooner. and hey drink plenty of water...that really helps. wash your face frequently with Acnil soap, avoid oily or fatty food...and the most important..dont pick on your pimples, even dry ones...coz it makes it even worse and the scars dont go...hope that was helpful...happy riddance of acne!!

Acne Antibiotics: Do Not Take Before You Watch This
Should I start up my antibiotics again?
I have taken three months worth of solodyn and got off them the beginning of march. It did a good job of clearing up my acne especially on my back chest neck. I was still getting a few pimples on my face but it was pretty much clear. since I have stopped the acne on my face is still pretty much controlled with the topical creams. but my back once again has bumpy itchy pimples. I've tried putting the creams on my back but it hasn't done much to solve the problem. Should I start up the antibiotics again? I just don't want to be on antibiotics long-term because I heard it's harmful to the body.
No, I wouldn't. It is probably the cause of it coming back. Antibiotics is a fungal poison. It kills everything giving you temporary relief, but then turns around and increases disease by lowering all of your immunity. I would go to the health food store and buy a really good probiotic to correct this problem. Also buy tea tree cleansing pads. That should help alot.
