Microdermabrasion treatments, micro crystal or diamond tome?
I got a quote $280 for 5 microdermabrasion treatments using micro crystals and mini facial after each treatment, also got quote from another spa $675 for 5 microdermabrasion treatments using diamond tome and then ultrasound afterwards to stimulate collagen. Does the diamond tome and ultrasound really make it so much better that it justifies the difference in cost?
The second treatment with ultra sound will probably plump up your skin temporarily if you need it. But let me caution you about microdermabrasion crystals. Most machines use aluminum crystals which have been linked to auto-immune diseases and alzheimers. My girlfriend worked with them and had them imbedded in her lungs and had breatrhing problems. Maybe a set of treatments may not hurt you , but why take the chance of breathing in something harmful. I prefer the Diamond Tome method which I have worked with. I never worked with aluminum as I refused to, I have worked with salt crystals which are Ok. Theire both doing the same thing just one blows the crystals on your face, the other one is on a wand. Also, I personally wouldn't pay almost $ 700. I would look for another place that will give you just the microderm from the Diamond Tome alone. Good Luck!
Is the "St. Ives Microdermabrasion Scrub" really microdermabrasion or just a facial cream with crystals inside?
What's the difference between the St. Ives scrub and real microdermabrasion that is performed by a doctor?
Both treatments over the counter and performed by the doctor's office are very tough on your skin. They aren't like an apricot scrub that just gets off the top layer, it's more harsh with other chemicals. Doctors treatments are honestly something I would never suggest to anyone, you really don't need a peel for your skin that bad unless you have LOTS of scarring or you're one of those 40+ women terrified of a few laugh lines. I would suggest over the counter St. ives stuff, which is probably not as hard on your skin. be sure to moisturize afterwards and then let your skin heal back!!
