On this site most people reccomend proactiv, but if you look it up they try to sell you three different creams. The first one is the only one you need as in all of them the main ingredient is benyzol peroxide, which you can get in creams at a supermarket. Personally I would get something from a well known brand that contains benyzol peroxide. I used to take minocylcine too, but it is a new drug that they are still developing which is why it may not work very well. I take tetralysal which is an older form of minocycline that has been more developed and has a better effect, and now I'm taking that I get very few spots and the ones that I do get I can cover up with concealers etc. Diet makes a huge difference as well. I eat NO sugar or fattening products which also makes a massive difference!

Two Types Of Acne Treatment
Acne is a common skin condition that involves changes in the amount of secretion of oils from the sebaceous glands, which are connected to hair follicles in the skin pore. When the gland is stimulated a hormone called an androgen, the unit secretes excessive amounts of oil, which attracts excessive dirt, foreign debris and subsequent bacteria. The condition occurs heaviest in areas where these glands are the most dense - the face, chest, neck and back. There are various acne treatments and skin care products available.
Acne occurs most commonly during adolescence, affecting more than 89% of teenagers, and frequently continues into adulthood. In adolescence, acne is usually caused by an increase in male sex hormones, which people of both genders accrue during puberty. For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to disappear-or at the very least decrease-after one reaches one's early twenties. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to disappear entirely, and some individuals will carry this condition well into their thirties, forties and beyond.
Acne is not caused by dirt. This misconception probably comes from the fact that blackheads look like dirt stuck in the openings of pores. The black colour is not dirt but simply oxidized keratin. In fact, the blockages of keratin that cause acne occur deep within the narrow follicle channel, where it is impossible to wash them away. These plugs are formed by the failure of the cells lining the duct to separate and flow to the surface in the sebum created there by the body. Built-up oil of the skin can block the passages of these pores, so standard washing of the face could wash off old oil and help unblock the pores.
There are many different types of Acne Treatments, these are the two most commonly available treatments:
1. Hygiene - Since dirt is not causing your acne, excessive scrubbing and washing won't make it go away. Try to limit yourself to two washings per day - anything more than that can leave your healthy skin dry, and your acne-prone areas irritated. Habitual over-washing may also stimulate extra oil production, which could result in more breakouts. Some anecdotal reports indicate placing a clean towel over one's pillow each night can help prevent contaminating the pillow with the bacteria that causes acne, and reintroducing it to the face. Additionally, cleaning the hands before touching the affected area can prevent transmission of the bacteria from one part of the body to another.
2. Topicals - There are many over the counter Topicals which can help combat acne. Most of these contain Benzoyl peroxide which is the main ingredient in many products such as: Clearasil, Proactive and Panoxyl. Benzoyl peroxide breaks down and removes the dead cells on the skin surface. It also kills bacteria on the skin. The removal of cells from the top layer of skin unblocks the sebaceous glands (glands which secrete sebum), which become blocked in acne. This reduces inflammation of the gland as the sebum can then escape. Bacteria on the skin feed on sebum and produce waste products which further inflame the sebaceous glands, causing acne. Benzoyl peroxide reduces their numbers by reducing their food source (sebum) and by directly killing them.
