I've tried Proactive, Clean and clear, Pro acne, I need suggestions. Please help
I have bad acne, I've had it pretty much since I was in 4th grade, and now I'm in college I want a clear face. A couple years ago Pro active worked for me, but then stopped. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.
I've had acne since I was a teen too... Try this... it pretty much has me acne free now. Proactiv didn't work at all for me after a while too. But I do still use the clarifying lotion with some other stuff (see below).
IN THE MORNING:
1) Cleanse face with a salicylic acid cleanser & warm water.
2) Splash face with cold water to close pores.
3) Use a cotton pad with half Witch Hazel & half Ten-0-Six oily skin astringent as a toner.
4) Apply the Proactiv Clarifying Lotion.
BEFORE BED:
1) Cleanse face (rub into wet skin on face for for about 1 minute) with Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser, OR a small loofah & a gentle facial cleanser, OR a Buff Puff singles facial sponge (you can get them at Ulta or Drugstore.com.
2) Splash face with cold water to close pores.
3) Use plain Witch Hazel as a toner (calms swelling from the exfoliation).
4) Apply Proactiv Clarifying Lotion.
I think what I was missing all those years was the exfoliation of the skin... I think the dead skin cells were what was causing the acne problem. ...And I think the Proactiv clarifying lotion works well with my routine, but didnt with the whole Proactiv line because there was simply no real exfoliation. Also, if your skin starts to feel a bit irritated from the exfoliation, I would cut down to exfoliating only every other day... and using the gentle cleanser only instead of the blackhead cleanser or loofah or buff puffs on those alternate days. I hope it helps, I know it really worked for me. It basically cleared my skin up completely!!!

Five Critical Tips for Your Acne Skin Care
Controlling Acne Need not be an Uphill Task
You will definitely find many tips, some exceptionally good, for controlling acne on the internet. You will observe, though, that the basic thing will always be keeping the skin clean and oil-free. If you use makeup, always go for cosmetics that are non-comedogenic, i.e. which do not allow pores to close which in turn prevents acne formation from clogged pores. Needless to say, you should never use any oil-based makeup if you have acne-prone skin.

Use a pore deep cleansing face pack which will keep the skin radiant with health and cleanliness. This can be done once every two weeks, though it could be done once a week for best results. While we are on the matter of face cleaning, you should ensure that your face wash prevents oil formation. Your face is sure to be acne-free with the right care.
