Sensi Clear Acne Treatment

hormonal acne treatment??

i recently have been breaking out all over my forehead, chin and cheeks. i usually do not have a problem with acne but everything i try seems to be making it worse. i am currently using sensi clear which is drying out my skin but i still have the pimples. please help!!

I looked up the ingredients in sensi-clear and all it has is salicylic acid. Salicylic acid only removes the top layer of your skin which removes debris that can clog pores which is only part of the solution.

Your homones in your body increase the production of sebum which harbours a specific bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) which leads to inflammation (redness and swelling)

To treat acne you will have to go to the route of the problem which is either control your hormones or eliminate the bacteria.

To regulate your hormones you will need prescription medications (Spironolactone or birth control) but to treat the bacteria there is an over the counter ingredient used to fight acne and that is benzoyl peroxide (Ingredient in proactive and many other products). Be sure to check all products to see what ingredients they contain.

Benzoyl peroxide concentrations ranges between products but start with the lowest strength. To use it, first wash your face then apply the product. I do not recommend washes or soaps because it's suppose to be left on. I would use a GEL and apply a thin film on the area you are treating. Leave on for AT LEAST 20 minutes so the benzoyl peroxide goes deep into your skin and kills the bacteria. Afterwards wash and dry your face. If it does not irritate the skin you may leave it on over night but becareful, it can bleach your sheets.

If you have severe acne, using benzoyl peroxide, you will have an initial flare within the first few days. Thats because all your white heads are turning into black heads. However, after this you should get better. If you skin gets dry, use a light LOTION (not cream) to moisten your skin after the wash. You can also use your sensiclear after the benzoyl peroxide treatment.

If you do not see results within the first 6-8 weeks, you will have to see your dermatologist.

Hope this helps.
