What's a good Loose & Compact Powder?


I'm looking for a new powder.
I'm using the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose powder right now, I'm looking for something better.

What's smooth and fine?
Is the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder good?
Does the brush I use affect the quality of the finish? Because right now I'm using quite a large brush.
Will the Mac 129 brush be better?
I don't want base makeup products from MAC

i really like MAC's Mineralized Skin Finish Natural for powder. It never looks cakey and I can just wear primer, concealer, and the powder and not worry about foundation anymore.

I'm not one for loose powders because I always seem to spill them or somehow splatter the bathroom walls with it.. so I stay away from those now :)
