What is the actual depth of "skin deep"?


Someone said the phrase "skin deep" the other day and it got me wondering how deep that actually is...

Well, if it's "beauty" and skin deep, then the answer is, that your body is coated by microorganisms, and if you were to remove all the human parts, you probably would still see the outline and details of the original person. So in that sense, beauty is a veneer of microorganisms.

Looking at the skin itself, the skin varies quite a bit in terms of depth. The thinnest part of the skin is over your eyes, and the thickest is on the soles of your feet.
