HELP! BACK ACNE SPOTS WONT GO AWAY?

i used to have pretty bad acne basically everywhere but i took some medicine and used some creams and i was able to get rid of most it. I used to have it on my face, chest, and back and now my face and chest are pretty much clear but my back has these blackish spots or bruises like the ones u get when you pop a zit but they wont go away. why did they go away from my face and chest but they refuse to leave my back? i have also thought of simply getting under the sun so i can get tanned but i've heard conflicting arguments as to whether this would be good or not.

Wash with warm (not hot) water and soap. Use a washrag-a sponge would probably irritate them. I used to have really bad acne. I even had one kind of leave some purplish bump on my face. I went to the dermitologist and was prescribed this stuff called Retin-A (4 % acid). I didn't have any more acne after I used the retin-a. Side effect of that is it causes your skin to peel at first to get the dead and infected skin off.
