Tea Tree Oil Cleanser Acne
mild acne problem?
well i did go to a dermatologist and it did work cause i was taking pills for control, but wat really pissed me off was that my mom didnt want me taking pills anymore b'cuz it can damage my stomach and liver? if this is tru wat are my other choices!?! the pills were like a life saver and it worked really good! and now my mom wants me to try acne cleanser, tea tree oil all that other crap that doesnt really help!
I tried everything the dermatologist tried to throw at me and it only made my skin worse. The only things that have helped are changes in my diet (learning what foods have aggravate my acne for me, not necessarily for everyone else), and finding a good, reputable, medical aesthetician (a facialist) and getting regular acid peels (which sound scary but are really just higher concentrations of the glycolic, salicylic, and lactic acids that are the main ingredients of most acne products). Here is my list of skin do's and do-not's that have helped me:
If you are using over-the-counter products, look for items that are non-comedogenic (i.e. won't cause comedones, which is the fancy word for blackheads and whiteheads). In my experience, glycolic and salycilic acids are good ingredients for all-over products (like face washes, lotions, and toners), and benzoyl peroxide works well for spot-treatment of larger blemishes (although make sure you only use white towels and pillow cases because it can bleach out and stain most anything else).
In terms of diet, there is no clear scientific evidence that food plays a role in aggravating acne, but many (including me) believe food allergies can be one of the worst causes of acne. Be sure to look for correlations between what you've eaten and when you break out (because food allergies are different for each person - fast food may cause zits for one person, but could have no affect on another). In general, though, I would try to stay away from or limit my intake of iodine-rich foods, which can be a big acne-trigger (this includes cheese, iodized salt, seaweed in sushi, clams, crabs and other shellfish). Also, if you take a multi-vitamin (and you may if your mom is into "natural" things), try to find one that is iodine-free.
If you are in to taking supplements (again, your mom may not be giving you a choice in the matter), I've found biotin, zinc, and fish oil to be highly effective.
Wash your pillow cases as often as possible (they're covered in dead skin, oil, hair products, and dirt).
If you use hair products, try to keep them away from your face.
DON'T pick at or touch your face - I know the urge to pop your zits or perform at-home blackhead extractions is overwhelming, but it will just make them more red (i.e. big and noticeable), they will be more likely to leave scars, and you are exposing your skin to more bacteria (and more acne).
Drink PLENTY of water and cut out the sugary pop.
Use laundry detergents and dryer sheets that are dye-free and perfume-free (All, Tide, and most other major brands sell such varieties).
I noticed someone above talked about washing your face as often as possible, but DON'T OVER-WASH and dry-out your face - you'll be stripping your skin of ALL natural oils (which is very aggravating). Don't use soap (it's alkaline and will promote bacterial growth) - look for a gentle cleanser with salicylic acid and wash every morning and night.
Finally, it sounds crazy but try gently running an alcohol swab over your cell phone if you find you're breaking out where you hold your phone against your face - the phone probably has a lot of bacteria on it (just don't break the phone
).

[Mostly Drugstore] Skincare Routine for Oily/Acne Prone Skin!
Does this sound like a good HOMEMADE CLEANSER for OILY & ACNE skin?
Does this recipe (which I got from expert village) sound good for oily acne prone skin? It seems like it would be gently and effective but I wanted your thoughts.
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup glycerin
1 tbs castile soap
10 drops favorite essential oil (I would probably use tea tree or lavender. They seem to work well for my skin)
P.S. also if you have any recipe that would be great also. The reason I really like this recipes is because it doesn't need to be refrigerated.
Thank you!!!
Cucumber - mashed or in juice form - can be applied to sensitive skin; unlike many other acne home remedies it doesn't dry your skin, on the contrary, it acts like a very gentle cleanser and moisturizer.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne .
